What is a wear layer?

The wear layer is the top layer of the multi-layered luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) product. Durability is one of the many functional properties of LVF, and this layer is constructed to protect the floor from scratches and scuffs.

Ultra durability
Think of the wear layer as your floor's bodyguard! While the floor itself should measure 8-mm to 12-mm in density, the wear layer has a separate measurement, with 20-mils being the most robust.

LVF is entirely waterproof. Composed of waterproof materials, it's impenetrable from bottom to top, which can be submerged or spilled on.

Affordable style
If you love the look of wood, consider LVF’s wood-look, luxury vinyl plank; or if you prefer stone or tile looks, go for luxury vinyl tile. While all are highly realistic, you will not pay nearly the same price for genuine materials.

All luxury vinyl images are taken with high-definition photography and are clear and vibrant, with knots, wormholes, grains, swirls, veining variations, and brilliant colors and patterns. Micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured looks.

You can get creative mixing and matching colors and layouts. While LVP is mainly associated with hardwood, many use it for stone images; the large format and fewer seams give a more continuous look like quarried marble, granite, travertine, etc. On the other hand, some use LVT also for wood looks as an echo for wood-look tile.

Other benefits include low maintenance, requiring only a regular sweeping and periodic mopping, and easy installation, especially when it's a floating floor.
